OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Traffic is moving again on Interstate 10 in Jackson County after a series of accidents Thursday evening.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol told WLOX News seven different accidents occurred between the 55 and 57 mile markers in both the east and west bound lanes of the interstate.
Corporal Johnny Poulos told WLOX News troopers have traffic moving again, but it's slow going.
Poulos said it's not clear yet where the first accident happened, but it spawned the others as drivers slowed down, some to avoid the wreck, others just to get a look.
"It was a chain reaction. People looking over to the other lanes, running into the back of each other," Poulos said.
A rain shower moved that through could have added to the problems Poulos said.
No word on the extent of any injures, though Poulos said one wreck involved a motorcycle.
