Coast photographer fights back against cyber attack

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Police have charged 19 year old  Byron Charles Miller with two felony counts for hacking Samuel Martino's website, loading it with pornography and more than 1400 e-mails.

Martino and Miller had a business arrangement that went bad, and that's when the hacking began.  Martino's website was taken down by the host domain, and his business suffered.

"Well, pretty much they decided they didn't want to use my services anymore because of what was on the page." Martino said

"This is actually the first case that the Biloxi police department has worked involving theft of intellectual property."  Sgt. Donnie Dobbs said.

Dobbs believes that law enforcement officers of the future must be well versed in internet crimes and computer investigations.

Martino is using social media to try and repair the damage.

"What I'm trying to do is to reassure everybody on my Facebook page, through my e-mails that is not what I represent and they actually understood and most people have backed me up, so they understood it's not me."

If convicted, Miller faces up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.   Meanwhile, Martino hopes to have his website back up and running in the next week or two.
