Ocean Springs Front Beach is the new Coast hot spot

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

Front Beach in Ocean Springs is becoming a new hot spot on the Coast. On nice weekends, the beach is full of folks having fun and enjoying the sun

Dannette King and her sister like to relax by the water while the kids play.

"We like it because it's close to home we love the new sidewalks they put in." King said.

Front Beach is a place where you can kick off your shoes, relax and even celebrate your birthday.

David Jones brought his son to Front Beach to celebrate his special day.

"It's really manicured and taken well care of." Jones said. "We enjoy the splash pad and all the areas that you have to walk around and play and set up a park like this."

The splash pad provides some cool relief from the sizzling Summer sun. Another thing about Front Beach in Ocean Springs that makes it special is its presence of man's best friend.

Shannon Baker loves walking her dog.

"It's dog friendly and it's just the nice boardwalk, it's a lot nicer, quieter." Baker said.

Back on the sand, Ron Crocker and his wife Kimberly are playing a friendly game of bocce ball.

"It's a beautiful beach. There's always something to do," Kimberly added.

Almost all of the improvements done to Front Beach over the past two years have been completed. The only project left is to plant additional landscaping along the pedestrian path, and plant more beach grasses to help control erosion.
