GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -
A grand jury will consider the murder and aggravated assault charges against Jessie Lee Williams, Junior and his cousin, Anthony.
The two appeared at a preliminary hearing at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center courtroom Wednesday, where Judge Bruce Strong held the case for the next grand jury.
The cousins are accused in a shooting on 32nd Avenue in Gulfport that killed Melvin Presley, 23, and injured two others. They turned themselves into police earlier this month.
Jessie Williams,19, is being held, in the same jail where his father was beaten and killed in 2006.
William's lawyer says his client acted in self defense. Attorney Michael Crosby says Jessie Williams was attacked after cashing his monthly settlement from the Williams' family wrongful death lawsuit against Harrison County.
At the time of his arrest, Jessie Williams was out on bond on another charge, so Judge Strong ordered him held without bond.
Anthony Williams, 23, is still being held on a $5.2 million bond.
