Two juveniles and a 17-year-old, who will be charged as an adult, are being accused of more than 30 auto burglaries, a church break-in, and vandalism at a sports complex in Ocean Springs.
Around 1am Tuesday, Ocean Springs Police received a call about an auto burglary in the 200 block of April Lane. A few hours later, officers came across two young men with all kinds of suspected stolen property - laptop computers, GPS devices and iPads.
The boys were taken in for questioning where investigators said they were able to tie them to more than 30 auto burglaries. Police said those crimes took place in the Waterford Village and Parktown subdivisions.
Investigators also believe the juveniles are responsible for a commercial burglary at the Grace Independent Baptist Church on Bienville Blvd. Thirteen laptop computers were stolen from the church's education department. Most of the property has already been returned to the church.
The investigation then led to the arrest of a third juvenile, who has been charged as an adult. Jonathan Diaz, 17, was charged with one count of auto burglary and one count of commercial burglary.
Police said all three of the suspects will also face charges of malicious mischief for damage to the Gay Lemon Sports Complex concession stand. And more charges are expected in the coming days for everyone involved.
The Ocean Springs Police Department is currently attempting to identify the owners of property seized during the investigation.
