I-10 stop lands convicted felon back in jail

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A Harrison County Sheriff's deputy found a lot more than just a speeding driver when he pulled over a Biloxi man on I-10 Thursday morning.

Sheriff Melvin Brisolara said the driver, Marcel Victor Garnett, 43, had been drinking. The deputy searched the vehicle and found a handgun with the serial number scratched off.

A background check found that Garnett had previous felony convictions, so in addition to DUI and other traffic offenses, he was charged with Possession of a Firearm after a Felony Conviction.

Garnett is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center under a $7,000 bond.
