Gulfport police say two murder suspects were not in police custody as of 10 am Saturday morning although their attorney said he encouraged them to turn themselves in as soon as possible.
Officers say Jessie Lee Williams, Jr., 19, and a relative Anthony Joseph Williams are wanted in connection with Friday's triple shooting on 32nd Avenue. The shooting left Melvin Presley, 23, dead and two other people hospitalized. Their conditions are not known at this time.
Attorney Michael Crosby was with Jessie Jr. when he turned himself into Gulfport police back in March as a suspect in a drive-by shooting near 39th Avenue. Gulfport police alleged back then that Jessie Jr. and another man were involved in an ongoing feud and had been shooting at each other. Officers expressed concern that innocent by-standers might be injured or killed in crossfire. Police say Jessie Jr. was out on bond when this latest incident occurred.
Crosby told WLOX on Friday he'd been in contact Jessie Jr., who goes by the nickname "DayDay".
The attorney said the teenager was getting his affairs in order and would be turning himself in "very soon".
