BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Whether it's a Poodle with a pompadour, a Setter with a strut, or five Golden Retrievers in a row, dog lovers will find their favorites, as 800 canines of all breeds compete in the Northlake Kennel Club AKC Dog Show in Biloxi.
For Dottie Lang, this is her passion.
"Oh, I love doing dog shows," Lang said. "It's just a lot of fun, I love the competition."
She and her husband, along with little "Chachi," travel America in their RV as they hop from show to show. It may be their hobby, but it's a full time commitment.
"You start them out as a puppy, training them to walk on a table, training them to walk on a leash. Grooming, obviously, is a key factor too. So it's a lot of work, it's a labor of love."
Brian Livingston agrees it's a lot of work. He's a professional dog handler from Dallas who trains and shows dogs of all breeds. What a way to make a living.
"It's a lot of enjoyment, because we are paid to play with dogs, so it can't get any better," Livingston said.
Dog lover Brianna Bishchoff spends her own money to enter, compete and pay for travel and lodging.
She said, "We just do it because it's fun, and the dogs enjoy it. The dogs love it and we have a great time."
The Houston native gives the dog show and all South Mississippi has to offer a blue ribbon.
"There's great restaurants, the dogs love it. Sometimes after the show, if you end early, you can take the dogs to the water and have a good time. The hospitality is great, the club does a great job and we just have fun here."
