GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Gulfport Police are searching for two men in connection with Friday afternoon's deadly shooting. And one of the suspects is a familiar face.
Jessie Lee Williams, Junior, 18, and a relative, Anthony Joseph Williams, 23, are being sought for questioning in the case.
The shooting happened around noon Friday near 20th Street and 32nd Avenue. Melvin Presley, 23, was killed in the gunfire. Two others were wounded.
In April, Jessie Williams was charged with possession of a stolen firearm after a traffic stop. A month earlier, he turned himself in to police for his alleged role in a drive by shooting near 39th Avenue. He's currently out on bond for that incident.
His attorney, Michael Crosby, told WLOX News he has been in contact with both men and that Jessie Lee Williams is getting his affairs in order. He said he expects Williams to turn himself in "very soon."
Williams Junior is the son of the Jessie Williams who died after being beaten by a jailer while he was an inmate at the Harrison County Jail. In 2007, the Williams family settled a wrongful death suit against the county for $3.5 million.
