Flavors of Memphis, St. Louis and Chicago come together on the Mississippi Gulf Coast at "Miller's Ribs & More" in Gulfport.
Owner Dave Miller believes his bar-b-que is something folks can enjoy anytime, without needing to wait for a special occasion.
"This is our motto: Seven days without Miller's Bar-B-Que, makes one weak."
Dave says the secret to good bar-b-que starts with select pork, prepared with the right marinade.
"I also use four different blends of wood, which is oak, pecan, hickory and cherry. I'm also a firm believer in the Kingsford Charcoal."
After the ribs are marinated for 24 hours, Dave slow cooks the meat on the pit for about three hours.
"This is a family recipe. I've been doing bar-b-que since I was 13 years old. My dad was in the military, plus he had a bar-b-que restaurant, and this is his recipe. He's 90 years old now."
So, we know Miller's can make ribs, but what about the promise of "more"?
"We also have brisket, bar-b-que chicken, buffalo wings. We have pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw, either Memphis style or on the side. It's all homemade. We do it daily."
Picky young eaters might enjoy the chicken nugget dinner with a side of macaroni and cheese. The breast tenderloins are cut to order and deep fried.
"We feed 'em from 2 to 102."
