BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The NCAA College World Series Atlanta region will have a decidedly Magnolia State flavor when the first pitch is thrown later this week. Both Southern Mississippi and Mississippi State will play in Atlanta when the first round of the college baseball tournament begins.
In fact, the second seeded Golden Eagles and the third seeded Bulldogs meet in the first round.
Southern Miss finished the regular season with a 39-17 record. Mississippi State was 34-23.
In the other Atlanta region game, host and number one seed Georgia Tech plays Austin Peay. The NCAA baseball regionals are June 3-6.
