GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Gulfport Police have a suspect in the shooting death of Iszaya Minter. Now, investigators need your help finding 26 year old Darcell Marquis Anderson.
The Gulfport man allegedly shot and killed Minter on Florida Avenue in north Gulfport.
At about 1:50 the morning of May 21, officers from the Gulfport Police Department responded to the area of Florida Avenue and Jefferson Street for a report of shots being fired. Upon arrival officers found Minter suffering from a single gunshot wound. Minter was pronounced deceased by medical personnel on scene.
The investigation has led to the issuing of an arrest warrant for Anderson on the charge of Murder. Anderson is described as being approximately 6'01" in height and 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to call the Gulfport Police Department at 228 868-5959 or Crimestoppers.
At the same time investigators search for Anderson, they're looking for suspects in what they're calling a retaliation shooting. Gulfport Police believe a shooting Wednesday night in north Gulfport was in retaliation for Saturday's shooting death of Minter.
Until tensions calm down, Deputy Chief Leonard Papania said the department will have an enhanced presence in that area of the city.
