GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Family members of the three missing fishermen are anxiously awaiting any word on their loved ones as the search continues for a second day. But so far, there's no news regarding the search for the trio.
James Watkins of Moss Point told WLOX News his oldest son, Roderick Watkins, is among those missing at sea after a cargo ship collided with a pogey fishing boat Wednesday night. He said his 48-year-old son loved the water and has been fishing for some 10 years after spending six years in the Navy.
James Watkins said he hopes they find the bodies of the three missing men so the families can have "peace of mind." Watkins said he was shocked to learn about his missing son and is trying to cope the best he can.
"The waiting is rough," Watkins told our Steve Phillips, who is also at Coast Guard Station Gulfport.
Steve will have more from the families, and the latest on the search throughout the day on WLOX.com and tonight on WLOX News.
