LONG BEACH, MS (WLOX) - The USM Gulf Coast Campus welcomed an expansion that has been years in the making. Saturday teachers and campus officials broke ground on what will be a state of the art science building.
The $10 million project will feature nine labs and research spaces. The teachers who will call the building home even made their own shovels highlighting their subjects.
Campus officials said this new building is just the start.
"We believe we will expand with the Gulf Coast. We believe the growth is here, which is why we moved our Masters in Business Education to the coast," Campus Executive Officer Dr. Frances Lucas said. "We believe the Mississippi Gulf Coast is going places, and we want to go with it."
School officials said they hope this will be the first of five ground breakings this year.
