BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - An autographed Mickey Mantle baseball is a hot item for any sports memorabilia collector. But the one a man tried to sell in Biloxi recently really was hot, according to police.

On Thursday, Biloxi Police arrested Thomas Marlin Norris, 36, of Petal, and charged him with receiving stolen property.

Investigators say back in March, Norris went to Gulf Coast Cards at Edgewater Mall and attempted to sell the Mickey Mantle ball, which is valued at $1,199. Police say it was the same ball that was stolen earlier that day from a store in the Hattiesburg area. The owner of Gulf Coast Cards knew about the Hattiesburg theft and called police.

Norris was arrested in Hattiesburg on the Biloxi warrant for receiving stolen property. He was booked in at the Biloxi Police Department, then transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center pending a total appearance bond of $25,000.00 set by Justice Court Judge Bruce Strong.
