GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - An accident that backed up westbound traffic on I-10 in Gulfport Monday morning is still impacting traffic at the end of the work day.
Police said around 7:30am, an 18-wheeler spilled roofing nails and concrete all over the interstate just east of the Cowan-Lorraine Road exit. Crews spent the better part of 11 hours cleaning it up.
Gulfport officers have been out directing traffic all day. In fact, one of the police vehicles was hit by another 18-wheeler, taking off the door. At 6pm, only one lane of traffic was open.
