BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - South Mississippi is mourning the loss of a longtime Hancock County educator. Former Bay-Waveland School Superintendent Dr. Kim Stasny died from a brain tumor Wednesday night.
Stasny worked for 19 years in the Bay-Waveland School District. She joined the district in 1990 as a principal, after spending years in as a principal in the Hancock County School District.
Stasny became the Superintendent of the Bay-Waveland District in 1999. She served in that position for 10 years and led the district through Hurricane Katrina.
Stasny was also named Mississippi's Superintendent of the Year in 2008.
She was 55 when she passed away.
