MOSS POINT, MS (WLOX) - The Jackson County Board of Supervisors held a "Grand Serving Ceremony" Tuesday to open the remodeled Magnolia Street Tennis Courts in Moss Point.
Over the last five weeks, the County's Recreation Department completely refashioned the existing courts with new hardtop surfacing along with tournament quality fencing, nets, and court lights. Crews also installed a paved half mile walking track around the courts.
"This is a great example of the County working together with the city to improve an existing recreational facility for our residents," Board President Melton Harris, said. "These courts are opening just in time for summer vacation and will give residents another great and affordable recreational option."
The opening ceremony was set to include a flurry of golden tennis rackets as county and city officials, along with a member of the High School Tennis Team, hit the first ceremonial serve on the tennis courts.
The courts are located across the street from the former Magnolia Junior High School and are a short walking distance from the current Moss Point High School.
