Cabinet members visit Alabama and Mississippi today

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Cabinet members will travel to Alabama and Mississippi on Sunday following President Obama's commitment that the federal government would do everything to help families and communities recover from the deadly tornadoes from earlier this week.

Several members of the Cabinet will get a closer look at the destruction, by meeting with families affected by the storms. The visit will allow them to assess the recovery efforts that are currently in progress.  Secretary Napolitano, Governor Haley Barbour, Secretary Donovan, Secretary Vilsack, FEMA Administrator Fugate, Administrator Mills, Smithville Mayor Gregg Kennedy, American Red Cross President and CEO Gail McGovern, Mississippi Emergency Management Agency Director Mike Womack and other state and local officials are making their first stop in Birmingham, Alabama which FEMA considered  the hardest hit state.

Their second stop will be in Smithville, Mississippi.
