New Yorkers still lend helping hand to Waveland

Saratoga Springs, NY (WLOX) - Generous folks all the way up in Saratoga Springs, New York, were celebrating Mardi Gras, a little late, just to raise money for Waveland.

This is the fifth year Waveland's sister city and The Giving Circle has held this fundraiser. It all started after Katrina decimated the city of Waveland.

The Mardi Gras Festival and Parade along with live bands and arts and crafts hope to raise enough money to build a stage at Martin Luther King Park.

Al Showers is in New York and served as the King of the parade. The Queen was Jeanne 'Granny' Graezer from the Clermont Harbor community.
