JACKSON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - What's a sawmill without its saw mill? Thankfully, Cumbest Bluff Sawmill won't have to worry about that thanks to quick work by Jackson County sheriff's deputies.
Friday afternoon around 4pm, deputies were called about a theft in progress at Cumbest Bluff Sawmill on Highway 63. While on the way to the scene, Deputy Robert O'Bryant noticed a red Ford F150 truck headed south on 63 loaded down with what appeared to be scrap metal.
O'Bryant and others stopped the truck and soon discovered that metal was actually the saw mill from the Cumbest Bluff Sawmill, valued at $2,000.
Three people were arrested and charged with Grand Larceny: Eugene Scott Porter, 49, of Gautier; Robert Oliver "Porky" Ladnier III, 55, of Moss Point; and Kimberly May Perry, 32, of Moss Point.
During an initial appearance in County Court Monday, Judge Larry Wilson set bond on Perry and Porter at $5000. Ladnier's bond was set at $7500.
Officials said Ladnier was on parole with the Mississippi Department of Corrections at the time of his arrest in reference to conviction of Manufacture of Methamphetamine.
