Site work begins on Margaritaville Casino in Biloxi

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -

Preliminary site work is now underway on the new Margaritaville Casino in East Biloxi.

That new $48 million development for 5th Street was approved by the gaming commission just a few weeks ago. Work now underway includes soil borings to test the foundation for the project.

The planned resort will feature a casino and restaurant, along with retail shops and a marina.

Entertainer Jimmy Buffet teamed with casino veteran Tom Brosig and other investors in pursuing the project.

The target opening for Margaritaville is spring of 2012.
