STONE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -
A Wiggins man, who investigators say caused a fatal accident last week, is set to turn himself in to authorities Wednesday.
Mark Anthony Evans, 44, is charged with DUI causing death and one count of DUI causing serious bodily injury.
Evans is, himself, now paralyzed from the neck down. Because of those injuries, he has been in the care of a family member. But now authorities say he's recovered to the point where he can be held at the Stone County Correctional Facility.
Evans' passenger, Robert Lee Howze, 62, of Wiggins, died from his injuries three days after the April 10 accident.
Biloxi firefighter Matthew Bigelow was hit head on in the collision. He has since been released from the hospital.
According to the Stone County Sheriff's Department, Evans was convicted on DUI charges in 1997 and 2002. Lt. Husband said in this case, Evans' blood alcohol content was five times over the legal limit.
"The legal limit is .08 and Evans' blood alcohol level was .384," Lt. Husband said.
