GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - A court hearing has been postponed for the man accused of causing the accident that killed the daughter of Gulfport's Police Chief.
Darrell Blappert, 26, was scheduled to have his preliminary hearing Wednesday afternoon on the felony DUI charge.
Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara confirmed to WLOX News that Blappert's attorney has asked for a postponement. No word yet on a new hearing date.
Witnesses say Blappert was speeding and driving erratically before leaving the road and striking Deanna Tucker's parked vehicle. Officers say Tucker had just put her five-year-old son in the car after leaving a bridal shop. She was pinned between the two vehicles.
Blappert is being held at the Harrison County Jail on a million dollar bond.
