GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Jessie Lee Williams Jr. is back behind bars, this time charged with possession of a stolen firearm. Gulfport Police say the 19-year-old was arrested after a traffic stop. Williams was a passenger in the vehicle.
Just last month, Williams turned himself in to police for his alleged role in a drive by shooting near 39th Avenue.
Police say Williams was taken into custody Monday for outstanding misdemeanor warrants. That's when officers say they found the stolen handgun.
Williams is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
Williams Junior is the son of the Jessie Williams who died after being beaten by a jailer while he was an inmate at the Harrison County Jail. In 2007, the Williams family settled a wrongful death suit against the county for $3.5 million.
