HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -
An eight-year-old had to be airlifted from Memorial Hospital to the University of South Alabama Medical Center on Wednesday, after a crash on Highway 605. According to a family member, Noelie Leathers has internal bruises; however, she is talking.
The youngster was wearing a seat belt in the back seat of her mom's car, when the car was hit by a pickup truck.
The coroner said the collision killed Elizabeth Poche. The 34-year-old was driving her daughter to North Woolmarket Elementary School. According to investigators, Poche was going from White Star Road to Highway 605. As she crossed the southbound side of 605, a pickup truck slammed into the driver's side of her car.
This accident happened at 7:19 a.m.
When rescue teams arrived on the scene, they say they were unable to save 34 year old woman. Harrison County's coroner said she was not wearing a seatbelt.
