Workplace Shooting Leaves One Man Dead In Gulfport

One man is dead and the gunman is on the run after a work-place shooting in Gulfport. The shooting happened around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon at Newman Lumber Company at the corner of Highway 49 and Landon Road. Both men worked at the lumber company.

Police found 32-year old Bobby Brown shot in the head, lying on the ground in the back part of the lumber yard. Police are looking for the man they think killed him, 24-year old Andre Conner of Gulfport.

Officers are using tracking dogs to try to find Conner. Chief Wayne Payne says Conner and the victim argued right before the shooting.

"I think it started out both of them joking with each other, and then it got heated and one went and got the gun and came back," Gulfport Police Chief Wayne Payne said. "He left the property we believe, but we're not sure. We're still investigating that aspect of it."

An autopsy was completed late Wednesday afternoon on Brown. Coroner Gary Hargrove would not say how many times Brown was shot, or with what type gun.
