GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - The Gulfport Dragway served as a gateway to the past for classic car enthusiasts during the Annual Hot Rod Weekend. The beautiful weather made for a perfect day to showcase the classic roaring engines.
The event featured about 200 freshly polished antique cars, an old-fashioned drag race, car show and a chili cook off.
The event wasn't just about fun and games, organizers say they also had a worthy cause in mind.
Jimbo Perkins with Motor Sports Magazine said, "The coast cruisers which is a part of Gulf Coast Motor Sports, donates quite a bit of money to the women's shelter here on the coast. We also do the Make-A-Wish."
IPerkins said they partner with the Bay St. Louis Misfit Car Club, too. Organizers are calling this year's event a success.
