Ryan Ross named new Ocean Springs head football coach

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Ocean Springs High School has a new head football coach. Ryan Ross, who was named the new coach at Brookhaven just last month, is taking over for the Greyhound program.

Ross was introduced in a ceremony at the school this morning.

Ryan Ross didn't spend much time as the head coach at Brookhaven. In fact, he never coached a game there. He was named head coach of the Panthers in February, but has decided to come south to continue his career.

Ross replaces Todd Mangum, who is leaving Ocean Springs at the end of the year to become the defensive coordinator at Madison Central High School.

Ross has coached at Brookhaven on three different occasions. He also coached at McComb High School and Brookhaven's Loyd Star School, as well as Southwest Mississippi Community College in Summit. He graduated from Delta State University and obtained his master's degree in secondary education from Alcorn State.

A.J. Giardina spoke with Ryan Ross this morning, and you can hear what he has to say about the future of Ocean Springs football tonight in WLOX Sports at 10.
