OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - There was no shortage of food at this year's Herb and Garden festival in downtown Ocean Springs. Nearly a hundred vendors showcased everything from flowers and herbs to jellies, arts and crafts at Saturday's festival.
Organizers say the event was a huge success. According to Margaret Miller, Director for the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce, sales were fantastic.
"Absolute success," said Miller. "We had a number of growers here that sold out around one o'clock, so really good weekend. "
Miller is confident the beautiful weather helped attract the crowds.
"This time of year, with all of our azaleas blooming, and things so beautiful and green and pretty, I think it brings out everybody and gets them thinking about their own gardens and their own homes."
The featured "herb of the year" was horseradish. So this year's festival also featured plenty of cooking demonstrations to give folks ideas on how to incorporate horseradish into their meals.
