The Biloxi Elks Lodge and the Gulf Coast Temple are giving some students all the school supplies they need for their book bags. Saturday, the club members filled bags for more than 100 kids.
Paula White placed school supplies in bags her children will take to school. With several children to shop for, she says it can be very expensive.
"This year we are one of the ones that just couldn't get all those things we could get all of those other years," White said.
Paula tried to tell as many people as she could about today's school supply distribution. She said she's thankful to the Elks for helping her and the community. Now her children and others will go to school prepared.
Members of the Elks Lodge know the importance of having the right tools to do the right job.
"Oh, it makes me feel good. Makes me feel like they want and get an education, and as long as they get an education we stand behind them 100 percent," Elks Club member Joycelyn McCoy said.
You may think it took a lot of work to make a successful event such as this, but with an ample amount of teamwork, the job wasn't that hard.
"It was easy. We have daughters and brothers that worked together, and by us working together that's how we fulfill our dreams," McCoy said.
"I'll tell you what. It makes myself, and all of our brothers feel very good to give back to the community. Something they can say is positive, and that would be these school supplies," Elks Club member Calvin Glover said.
With all the bags full of school supplies, you'll soon have heads full of knowledge.
