OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) -

OCEAN SPRINGS, MS (WLOX) - Tanner Charles Fountain, 18, of Ocean Springs died late Tuesday night in a one-car accident on Government Street.

Fountain was headed east in a Pontiac Grand AM when he hit an oak tree and the car engine burst into flames. According to the family, the fire did not make into the cabin of the vehicle. He was alone in the car.

Police received several 911 calls reporting a serious accident around midnight. Firefighters and an Acadian Ambulance crew responded, but Fountain died at the scene.

Fountain was a 2010 graduate of Ocean Springs High School.

This is the second loss for Ocean Springs in the past month. In mid-December 2010, 22-year-old Taylor Lyons died just days after falling down a flight of stairs Friday at an off-campus party at Mississippi State University. Lyons was a 2007 graduate of Ocean Springs High.
