D'IBERVILLE, MS (WLOX) - Church of Christ congregations from across the nation have come together to help feed South Mississippi. The Churches of Christ Disaster Relief delivered around 6,000 frozen meals to people in need Thursday.
The meals were collected by the national program which decided where they should go. Members of the Highway 15 Church of Christ in Biloxi say this was a chance to provide comfort, as well as food, to an area with great need.
"The holiday season is a time of giving and we have the opportunity now to be able to give back," said Tony Morgan with the Highway 15 Church of Christ. "We have the cold weather. We know that people still need the food and the nourishment. So this is a way to feed them on a physical basis."
The meals were delivered all the way from Nashville. Meals were also taken to several soup kitchens and shelters.
