Firefighters battle four fires in Harrison County

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) -

HARRISON COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Firefighters in Harrison County had a busy morning Wednesday, responding to four fires in a matter of hours.

Fire Marshal George Mixon said firefighters responded to a call about a wildfire on Highway 49 in Lyman, but when they got there, they realized there were actually two fires about half a mile apart. Firefighters set up perimeters to protect area homes and businesses, while road crews put up signs urging highway drivers to take caution in the heavy smoke.

While still battling those fires, Mixon said calls came in about a woods fire in Saucier, and a motor home fire in Success.

Mixon said volunteer and forestry service firefighters worked the fires. All are still under investigation.
