BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Did you know that as a resident of Mississippi, you and your family have access to a free Prescription Drug Card program? The Mississippi Drug Card is free to all residents of our state and with it you can receive savings of up to 75 percent at more than 50,000 national and regional pharmacies.
Mississippi Drug Card announced last week that CVS/pharmacy has been chosen as a new preferred pharmacy for the free statewide prescription assistance program. This means that any Mississippi resident that doesn't have a computer to access the programs website, or otherwise obtain a hard card, can visit any CVS/pharmacy location. Simply ask the pharmacist to process the prescription through the Mississippi Drug Card. This is the only prescription assistance program that offers this option.
Mississippi Drug Card was launched to help the uninsured and underinsured residents afford their prescription medications. However, the program can also be used by people who have health insurance coverage with no prescription benefits, which is common in many health savings accounts (HSA) and high deductible health plans.
Additionally, people with prescription coverage can use the program to get a discount on prescription drugs that are not covered by insurance.
Mississippi Drug Card celebrates its three year anniversary this month, and has helped residents save more than $3.9 million since its inception. You can search drug pricing, locate participating pharmacies, or get your Mississippi Drug Card online at www.MississippiDrugCard.com.
