BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A Canadian man spending Christmas Eve in Biloxi is making a dream of two decades come true.
Bill Shaw is from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He took a year off from his a job as a Marine Chemist to travel the 3,000 mile Intracoastal Waterway. He and his 22 foot canoe powered by 40 horse outboard have found port here in Biloxi, where he plans to wait out the current cold snap.
"I've always, always wanted to do the whole Intracoastal Waterway. And it was only a year or so ago that I realized, I was looking at a map and I saw Intracoastal Waterway on the Gulf Coast. I didn't realize it goes all the way to Brownsville, Texas. So I'm going to go all the way to, that's my plan anyway, to try to make it to Brownsville, Texas," Shaw told WLOX News.
Shaw began his journey on August 30. He believes it will take about a month for him to complete his trip at the tip of the lone star state.
