South Mississippi weekend whereabouts December 17th - 19th

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - Ring in the holidays with the New York style Christmas spectacular featuring glittering costumes and the highest kicking chorus girls on this side of the North Pole. The show beings Friday at the Beau Rivage.

Don't be square and sit at home on a Friday night, instead put on your boots and enjoy a night square dancing. The Magnolia Swingers Square Dance Club invites everyone over to the St. Martin Community Center between 8 and 10.

Chow down on some scrumptious holiday goodies at the Ocean Springs Fresh Market. It's Saturday from 9 until 1 at the Depot Parking lot.

Give a gift from the heart. The rangers at Gulf Islands National Seashore are turning everyday items you can find around your house into beautiful ornaments. Bring your own items or use materials they provide. Join them Saturday at 10a.m.

The youngsters at Lynn Meadows invite you over for their rendition of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas. The production will be at 11 and 1 Saturday at the museum.

Santa has dropped off some gifts at the Elks Lodge in Biloxi for good boys and girls. It's first come first serve so bring the children out early. The toy giveaway is at 1p.m.

The festival of lights is making a comeback in Waveland. Enjoy the sounds of holiday music and honorary mayor of Key West Sammie Mays will be on hand selling her book "Pirate Night Before Christmas." Everyone is encouraged to put on their best pirate costume. Festivities begin at 5p.m. on Coleman Avenue.

Enjoy the timeless story of the Nutcracker. The Ballet Theatre South will bring the show to life at the Saenger Theatre Saturday at 7:30p.m. and again Sunday at 3p.m.

There will be a total lunar eclipse this month and if you don't know what your looking for you may miss this rare opportunity. But the Gulf Islands National Seashore wants to prepare you, come on over to the visitor's center Sunday at 2p.m. to learn all about the 19 year lunar cycle.
