BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - Mississippi Power crews spent Thursday night working to restore power to Biloxi residents on Pass Road. A car accident earlier that evening snapped the top off a power pole, severing power and heat to these residents.
"It went out when I was getting ready to eat. I had the food up to my mouth. Then the TV flickered and it just went off and we were like, 'What just happened?'" said Roger Bennett, who resides in Fairway View Apartments that lost power.
Mississippi Power estimated about 400 were without power when the accident occurred around 6pm. Within a few hours, power had been restored to more than 100.
With wires down and street lamps out, workers had to reroute traffic to make room for the repair trucks. It took Mississippi Power workers a while to assess the damage before they could get to the repairs.
For the residents who were sitting in the dark, the heat couldn't come soon enough.
The power outage started just east of Beauvoir Road and extended to Jim Money Road. All power has been restored.
