Developer buys old Kroger building in D'Iberville

D'IBERVILLE, MS  (WLOX) - The old Kroger building in the heart of D'Iberville will be renovated.

D'Iberville City Manager Michael Janus said John Boothby, of Apple Holdings has purchased the empty structure that sits at the corner of Lamey Bridge Road and LeMoyne Boulevard.

The city sent a press release saying, "For years the building has sat vacant, creating an eyesore in the D'Iberville community."

"From my first day at the City, I knew we had to get this property cleaned up as it sends the wrong message about our City's desire to move forward", said Janus.

Developer John Boothby said, "Acquiring this property gives us a great opportunity to get into this dynamic market.  I appreciate the City's willingness to assist at many levels and in return, I'll deliver a first-class building with exceptional retail prospects."

The building is about 50,000 square feet. City employees said, "The renovation will include a complete facelift and landscaping and should be available for tenants beginning in the spring of 2011."
