STONE COUNTY, MS (WLOX) - Hand dipped candy, scrumptious pralines. It's all about pecans at the Pecan House in Stone County.
"My family has always been in the pecan business," said Phyllis Shoemake. "My mom started this store about 30 years ago."
Shoemake stays busy continuing a South Mississippi tradition at the Pecan House, where she says pecans are big business.
"We use roughly 80,000 pounds of pecans every year."
When we stopped by, Dianne Furtado was busy in the kitchen making sweet delicacies.
"These are sugar free chocolates. They are delicious," said Furtado.
Out front, customers were shopping for their favorite treats. The Pecan House provides people with great Christmas gifts featuring an array of pecan candies and more.
Shoemake said the holidays are when her business shifts into high gear.
"We do half of our business in the month of December."
