Mississippi Surge take a bit out of the Columbus Cottonmouths 5-2 on the road

BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - The Surge opened the scoring 1:00 into the first period.  Michael Richard ripped the puck at the Columbus net, Rusty Masters would follow up with the goal.

Jeff MacPhee came back and tied the game for the Cottonmouths at the 6:22 mark slipping the puck past Dan Earles.

Rusty Masters would slap home his second goal on the night at 7:54 of the first period giving the Surge the lead.

It would stay that way until Sam Bowles netted a power play goal at 4:53 of the second period that tied the hockey game.

Jeff Grant tallied another Surge goal at 12:16 of the second period and Mississippi would coast under the win column.

Jason Beeman added Mississippi's 4th goal at 14:17 of the third period and Matt Zultek pulled the trigger on an empty netter at 19:22.

The Surge picked up another win as goalkeeper Dan Earles stopped 24 of 26 shots on goal.  Ian Vigier suffered the loss for the Cottonmouths.
