BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - The Bay St. Louis Police Department has arrested three adult men and one juvenile on sexual assault and rape charges. They also have arrest warrants for a fourth adult and one more juvenile.
The charges stem from a party held in early September at a Bay St. Louis home. Police say two girls, ages 15 and 16, were raped during that party and one of the assailants even videotaped the attack.
Elijah White, 19, of Waveland and Cyril Lang, 20, of Bay St. Louis were charged with rape and sexual battery. Skyler Favre, 18, of Waveland faces two counts of sexual battery and one count of the production and possession of child pornography. Investigators believe Favre used his camera phone to record the incident.
"It's an extremely tragic situation for the victims, their families, their friends. It's something they will have to deal with for the rest of their lives," Bay St. Louis Police Chief Mike DeNardo said.
The party was held at a home on Seube Street in Bay St. Louis. Police would not say who owns the house, but they did say none of the suspects or victims lives there.
"A lot of times you get, 'Come over to my house. We're having a party. I'm going to be out of town, you can use my house for a party.' And that's what we're looking at right now, trying to tie that in how they picked that house," DeNardo said.
When asked if the homeowners were home at the time of the assault, DeNardo declined to comment.
"That we're not going to say right now."
In fact, police are releasing few details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
There are still a lot of unanswered questions like what were two underage girls doing at a late night party with young men in their late teens and early 20s?
"We have that information. We're not divulging that right now," DeNardo said. "We are not covering up anything or hiding anything. It's just that the key things in the investigation, we're still looking into. And we want to make sure we have everything perfect when this goes to court."
The chief also was tight lipped when asked if this was a premeditated incident: Were the young girls invited to the party with the intention of sexually assaulting them?
"That's really something we can't talk about right now. That's a key piece of evidence. Hopefully by next week, we can release a lot more details about the case and stuff so people will understand what happened. The girls are the victims and they are the ones suffering with this and they're suffering pretty hard," DeNardo said.
The four men arrested are all out on $100,000 bonds. They are expected to be arraigned in city court next Wednesday.
Chief DeNardo said more arrests in the case are possible.
