Biloxi, MS (WLOX) - This weekend you have a chance to see the Elton John musical, Aida, at the Saenger Theatre in Biloxi. Shirley Peyton plays the part of Aida, a Nubian Princess who is captured by Egyptian soldiers and enslaved. Aids is a dream role for Peyton, because of the music and the message.
"It's about overcoming differences and accepting people as they are. I think this story will move a lot of souls."
This Elton John Tim Rice musical premiered on Broadway in 1998 and has continued to entertain audiences around the world, with music that ranges from gospel to rock.
Loree Dalgo plays the Princess, Amneris. Dalgo is also the director of this KNS production.
"The cast is phenomenal, and I love the music. This is a show I've wanted to bring to South Mississippi for a long time."
Joel Herr plays the part of the Egyptian Army Captain, Radames.
"The story is really interesting. There's a love triangle and some heartfelt moments, but mainly, this show is about the music."
