BILOXI, MS (WLOX) - A Biloxi man is the winner of the St. Jude Dream Home. Carlton Mayton bought one ticket back in August, just two days after the sale began. WLOX was at the house in Tradition when Mayton arrived to see his new home for the first time

Carlton Mayton was in aw as he saw his new home for the first time. As Mayton looked around at the outdoor living area he wondered when he would be able to share the good news with his family.

Carlton Mayton said, "I've been trying to call my wife, but she's Christmas shopping and won't answer the phone."

Mayton was speechless as he walked around the more than three thousand square foot home.

"I just haven't got over the shock. It's more house than I thought i'd ever have," said Mayton.

That shock began Sunday afternoon when his name was drawn out of 6,500 tickets.

Mayton said, "I was on my way to D'Iberville to buy some ice cream.  I didn't believe it. I had to have them repeat it again."

It wasn't just a great day for Mayton. Beth Perkins with St. Jude said this was a great day for thousands of children in Memphis, Tennessee.

"Oh, it's an amazing day for St. Jude. This helped run the hospital for a half of day," said Beth Perkins.

Mayton's $100 ticket was part of more than $650,000 that goes to operate the research hospital.

"I just thought I'd take a chance and see what happens and I wanted to give some money to St. Jude," said Mayton.

Still trying to grasp the thought of owning a $565,000 dream home, Mayton tried calling his wife one more time.

Mayton said, "Hey I just wanted to tell you we won the house out at Tradition. So if you get a chance give me a call."

St. Jude officials said it takes 1.5 million dollars to operate St. Jude every day.
