ST. BENARD PARISH, LA (WLOX) – Louisiana officials believe they have recovered the body of a missing Mississippi boater.
Officials of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries found the submerged body of a man Sunday morning. According to officials, the body was found near a 19 foot boat, floating near an oil rig.
Officials believe it could be the body of a Mississippi boater reported missing November 12.
St. Bernard Parish sheriff's detectives took possession of the body. Chief Deputy Sheriff James Pohlmann said they did not see signs of foul play aboard the boat where a wallet was also recovered.
Officials say the cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy by the Orleans Parish Coroner's office. Officials will not release the name found in the wallet until the victim's identity is confirmed; although the ID placed the man in his 60's.
