South Mississippi weekend whereabouts November 5th-7th

SOUTH MISSISSIPPI (WLOX) - The Bay St. Louis Little Theatre is being christened this weekend with "Lillie's of the Field." The humorous, heartwarming play is about German nuns who strive to build a chapel in the middle of the Arizona desert. Will they succeed? You'll have to go to find out. The curtain opens Friday and Saturday at 8p.m. and Sunday at 2p.m.

You can find oil paintings, watercolors, raku pottery, metal works and more exceptional arts and crafts in downtown Ocean Springs this weekend for the Peter Anderson Festival. Enjoy shopping to great music and delicious food. The event is Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9a.m.

While your downtown, stop by The Gallery and meet renowned artist Marlin Miller. He will be signing copies of his new book which chronicles his gift to the recovery, the beautiful tree carvings you see all throughout South Mississippi.

If you inspire to be a writer or just enjoy reading, some of the top writers are in town for the Southern Expressions author's conference. Kathleen Koch, John Floyd, Carolyn Haines and Neil White are among those who will be speaking. The conference is Saturday from 8a.m. until 7p.m. and Sunday from 10a.m. until noon at the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Arts Center.

It's a big weekend for the Ohr O'Keefe Museum. The new state of the art facility opens to the public Saturday at 2:30p.m. To celebrate the museum is also opening its doors on Sunday inviting everyone over for family day. Take a tour, enjoy art activities, food and more. Admission is free from 1p.m. until 4p.m.

Bring the children out to see top notch junior equestrians compete in show jumping, mounted games and vaulting. The Deep South Regions Pony Club is hosting the competition Saturday from 8a.m. until 5p.m. at the Harrison County Fairgrounds.

Over 250 arts, crafts, antique and food vendors will be in downtown Picayune for the Fall Street Fair. Browse the streets and enjoy live music, a car show, and fun activities for the children including games and NASA's inflatable space shuttle. The fair is Saturday and Sunday from 9a.m. until 5p.m.

Buff up your old or new cars, bikes and trucks and cruise on over to LJ's on Creosote Road in Gulfport for a show to benefit the Community of Christ Food Pantry. There will be prizes for the top five entries. The show is Saturday beginning at 9a.m.

One of the greatest comedians and jugglers, Mark Nizer, is performing at the Mary C. O'Keefe Cultural Arts Center on Saturday. He'll be juggling a burning propane tank, running electric carving knife and a bowling ball. He'll also juggle five ping pong balls 20 feet in the air using his mouth. It will be an exciting evening you won't want to miss. Nizer will take the stage at 7:30p.m.
