GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Even if you are a non-smoker, you may be in danger from cigarette smoke.
"There is no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke," said State Health Officer Mary Currier. "Five hundred fifty nonsmoking Mississippians die each year from exposure to secondhand smoke. Everyone deserves to breathe smoke free air."
Today, the State Health Department is trying to make you aware of this danger. You are invited to learn and lunch at " Clearing the air: Eliminating Exposure to Secondhand Smoke" at 11:30 a.m. at the Knight Nonprofit Center in Gulfport.
WLOX News will be there for this potentially lifesaving message and we'll share it with you later today on WLOX.com and WLOX News.
