Governor Got Help From Coast Attorney

More information today on campaign finance controversies in Mississippi. Governor Ronnie Musgrove received financial help from Pascagoula atttorney Dickie Scruggs when he ran for Lt. Governor in 1995. This is one day after Lt. Governor Amy Tuck confirmed that a half million dollar loan she received in 1999 was backed by Scruggs.

In the govenor's case, Scruggs guaranteed a 75,000 dollar loan to Musgrove through Merchants & Marine bank in Pascagoula. The loan was later paid off by a group of eleven lawyers. Musgrove reported the loan, but similar to the Tuck case, he did not mention the bank or Scruggs in that report.

However, state law in 1995 did not require him to do so.
