Bay High students help their community through art

BAY ST. LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - BAY ST LOUIS, MS (WLOX) - Some Bay High School art students are putting their skills to work for their community. The students are painting a large mural which will be used as a facade for a haunted house.

The haunted house is a fundraiser for the "Kreative Kids" program which provides free arts and crafts projects for children of Hancock County.

The Bay High Art Club teacher Allen Cummings believes it's important for the students to help out the community.

"I wanted for them to have a community service project to give them a chance to be able to see their work out on display in the community, and show a usefulness with their art work, but also a chance for them to kind of use and develop their skills in a larger way," Cummings said.

The 1600 square foot haunted house will be set up on the Grounds of the city's historic train depot. For a $5 donation, you can check out the spooky frights October 29-30 from 6pm to 11pm.
