Survey shows coast business leaders confident about future

GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) - Business confidence on the Mississippi Gulf Coast is on the rebound. That's according to the latest CEO & Business Owner Confidence Survey released Tuesday.

The report states that business confidence rebounded significantly in the third quarter of 2010, after falling during the second quarter.

Members of the Chambers of Commerce that serve all three counties of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, as well as members of the Gulf Coast Business Council were surveyed October 4-13.

The majority of business owners and CEOs surveyed, 79 percent, believe future revenue levels will remain the same or grow in the next six months when compared to those of the second quarter.

From the hiring standpoint, 62 percent of respondents indicated they had no plans to change their staffing levels while 20 percent anticipated increases. That's an improvement from the prior survey that was conducted in early July (56 and 19 percents, respectively).
